This policy explains what information howtoma.ke collects when you use the site, and what it does with that information.
Page-view data
When you open a guide, howtoma.ke records that the guide was viewed. Each recorded view stores only two things: the guide's identifier and the date and time of the view. No IP address, no browser or user-agent details, and no account or session identifier of any kind is recorded with a view.
Helpfulness votes
Each guide has "Was this guide helpful?" buttons. When you vote, the site only adds one to that guide's running total of helpful or unhelpful votes. Nothing is stored about who voted: there is no per-voter record, no IP address, no session, and no cookie involved.
Comments
When you leave a comment on a guide, the name you enter and your message are sent to the site's own comment-moderation system for review. That system runs on a separate domain (ima.ke) for infrastructure reasons, but it is operated by the same team that runs howtoma.ke, and it is part of the site's own moderation workflow rather than an outside service.
Comments do not appear on howtoma.ke immediately. They are reviewed first, and only approved comments are later mirrored back and shown on the site. The site reads those approved comments from ima.ke's public approved-comments feed; comments that have not been approved are never displayed here.
No cookies or browser storage
howtoma.ke does not use cookies, and it does not use browser storage (localStorage or sessionStorage) for tracking. There is nothing on your device that follows you from one visit to the next.
